 Boozing

November, 5

A scary news for those young boozers who like to experiments with their drinks to get that extra energy in every drink they take. So if you are mixing your alcohol with energy drinks then you could be risking yourself. This new trend of boozing, mainly seen by young drinkers who like to mix it with some energy drink to enjoy more energetically in the clubs all the night. In a study conducted on 4000 students, it was seen that consuming alcohol mixed with energy drinks has doubled the risk of clubbers hurting themselves or taken advantage sexually. It is also found that the cocktail, made of alcohol and energy drinks contains high levels of caffeine which again is a matter of concern.

The change in the nature of consumption of alcohol by youngsters has shown that by mixing alcohol these young drinkers have raised the amount of consumption of alcohol in comparison with other drinkers. They are also more exposed to take sexual advantage of others and also being taken advantage of themselves. This psychology also points out the fact that nowadays youngsters are inclined towards drinking more, so they mix alcohol with energy drinks which helps them to consume more liquor. According to Dr Mary Claire O’Brien, a lead researcher in this study said, the risk of serious and potentially deadly consequences is so much higher for those who mix energy drinks with alcohol.”

Even researchers feel the need of proper guidance to youngsters and educate them with the risk of mixing alcohol with energy drinks. The students should understand how fatal this experiment could result for them and others. Parents should also come up and take the initiative to make their wards aware of the ill-effects of this new trend of drinking. Also they should check the amount of alcohol they are consuming.

Fishermen in Scotland role model for others

Published by Pradeep under Every Day, General, Politics

Fishermen in Scotland role model for othersScotland, Nov 5: The sea wealth get destroyed when over exploited, the Scottish fishermen give great care to save the precious natural resources of ours. This opinion was put forth by the conservationists and Scotland’s Environment Secretary. The navy authorities are taking voluntary measures including the restriction for fishing in the areas where too many young fish are being caught, which allows the fish wealth to flourish. The observers on board will keep an eye on levels of wastage and thus pave way for the more profitable catch.

While in North Sea the discarded fish’s amounts to a maximum of 880,000 tonnes and in north-east Atlantic it amounts to 1.3 million tonnes nearly 13 per cent of the catchments.

The Common Fisheries Policy aims at curbing the unnecessary wastage of the fish wealth. Quotas are implemented to restrict the catches of different species. A boat focussing on catching one species will catch other species along with the target species thus lead to the dumping of the other species.

A senior policy officer working with WWF Scotland, Helen McLachlan said that in Scotland the fishermen are voluntarily taking lot of measures to save our sea wealth, this ideal way of preserving the natural resources should have to be adopted all over the Europe.

Meanwhile the Environment Secretary of Scotland, Richard Lochhead also praised the fishing fleet by commenting that he was impressed over the transformation of attitude taking place in the Scotland’s fishing industry.

While commenting on this Duncan MacInnes, Western Isles Fishermen’s Association opined that the fishermen in Scotland want the method to be altered so as to minimise the dumping. Reducing the number of days in sea will be the effective way to codify the industry alongside the attempt to catching the targeted species.

To add boost to all these positive turn over the Scotland’s fishing fleet leading Europe in promoting more stable fishing practices. This is a moment of pride to all of us in Scotland.
