Heart disease a fear for pregnant women
The heart disease seems to be making the life of the UK people restless, earlier rated as the most feared disease among Scottish women. Later it again made news as the most killer disease in Scotland claiming majority of the deaths, and now another sign of worry for pregnant women. The recent studies have found that heart disease and pre-eclampsia is a growing threat for pregnant women that can be dangerous for both the mother and the child. It is known that Pre-eclampsia leads to high blood pressure during the second half of pregnancy and also affects about five percent of women in their first pregnancy.
After conducting a study on pregnant women, and tested their their blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar levels to see if they possess any signs for heart disease. The tests proved that few women showed signs of Pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. The study also pointed out the fact that women who have heredity of high blood pressure, heart disease and cholesterol are at higher risk of pre-eclampsia in comparison with other pregnant women. The problem becomes worse if the pregnant woman is suffering form obesity as this also increases the chances for heart diseases.
Majority of such cases are traced in women is due to the lack of care shown to tackle the high blood pressure and sugar levels. The Institute for Women’s Health in London revealed a report in which a study conducted on about three million women showed that women with prior signs of pre-eclampsia has greater risk of high blood pressure and also risk to develop heart disease and strokes. All these studies also showed that if treated on time the women can lower the fear of heart diseases. While those women who are obese, should try and reduce their weight, which would help them to contour the heart diseases more easily.
