Modern day breakfast a worry sign for children
December, 5
Have you ever thought how much your little wonder is splurging on while going to school each morning? Well if not then, there is a shocker for you; a recent survey has shown that children these days are spending £413 million a year on chocolates, soft drinks, and crisps on way to school. This change in eating habits has clearly shown the likings of children for junk and packaged food rather than a healthy breakfast.
This survey conducted on the families in the UK also noted that about 1.3 million primary school children are spending £1.52 every day on an average in such food stuffs. Majority of them also agreed that they skip their breakfast. Several nutritionist and health experts have raised a concern over the modern eating habit in children, they said that this would lead them to a poor state of mind with unable to concentrate in their school. They advised children to have a healthy breakfast in the morning.
It is also seen that in recent years the amount of pocket money given to children has also mounted up, even many parents have said that they were aware of the fact where their kids are splurging that money. According to Kellogg’s who carried out this study, breakfast is a key element of a balanced diet and to skip that, means less intake of fruits and other fibers.
As we all know that breakfast is ideal start for the day which provides us with a balanced in-take of fruits, vegetable, meat and other dairy products. But to substitute that with chocolates and drinks means starting off the day with more fat contents. Children requires a rich diet and not having breakfast would effect their studies and health, they will feel a bit hard to concentrate in the studies and would also pile up the fat level in their body leading to other serious health problems in due course.
So parents should make sure, their wards have a rich breakfast before they leave home to school, also take care that children consume less junk and crispy foods.
