First National Park of Scotland soon to be opened
Scotland, Jan 12: Loch Lomond known for its serene natural beauty attracts five million visitors each year. The upgrading it as a national park will allow the areas to be managed efficiently. And there are huge possibilities of more people get aware of the need to preserve the flora and fauna of the area for the future generation. The idea of national park has been debated for the last 50 years. Finally the first national park of Scotland is becoming a reality. The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National park will be controlled by a board comprising 25 members.
According to critics the park will be a honey pot for those who would like the area be flooded with visitors and new developmental projects. But the supporters of the national park believe that it offers chance to improve the area and its infrastructure facilities.
While commenting on this the Environment and Rural Development Minister, Ross Finnie said: “The members of the boards are selected from the local councils, interested bodies and eminent persons in this field. The formation of the park is expected to preserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the area, it will prevent the over exploitation of natural resources, help to create understanding and take pleasure from the special qualities of the area and it will also encourage endurable socio-economic development of the communities of the area.”
He further added that: “The formation of the board for prestigious first National Park of Scotland is considered as an important one and deserves historical importance. The quality and expertise of the board members are impressive and we can expect an exciting and challenging time that will ensure that the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park gets off to the best start.”
