January, 15
Once again the health worries are making the Scottish people restless; in a study it was revealed that, Scottish teens are substituting their healthy meals to snacks and other junk foods. It was found that the secondary schools are not trying out sufficient measures to tackle this growing problem. The lack of concern and control to these eating habits has lead to such an adverse situation for teenagers.
The schools are now required to come up and check the availability of fruits and vegetables in school lunches and also to watch out whether the children are actually consuming these healthy diet or not. To change the diet of the teenager may be an uphill task, but that is what these schools are required to do in order to take them to a healthier life.
It was known that the situation is normal in primary schools where pupils have a healthy and balanced diet. Meanwhile the children minister Adam Ingram said that, the school meals are getting better in Scotland. Several previous researches and studies have highlighted how unhealthy eating habit has placed Scotland with one of the second highest obesity rate in the whole world. In such situation one needs to impart a healthy eating culture from the grass root.
With such a pity state, the government is trying out all steps to ensure the country embrace a healthy tomorrow. There are also plans to roll out a national food policy for Scotland soon. So if these planning works out then the day is not far when Scotland would shine as healthy country.
