Jump in birth rate in Edinburgh
March, 14
Edinburgh population is growing at a great pace with recent figures showing more births than deaths in the city. If we look at the figures of last years we can find that about 5055 infants were born in the city which is 3 per cent more than the previous year.
The population growth of Edinburgh is also due to the migration gain, every year more and more people are moving into the city giving a rise to its population. Meanwhile the death rate rose a bit as per figures. The Scottish population also jumped slightly, in the year 2007, with over 57,000 births registered in Scotland which are highest since the past ten years.
With more births across Scotland the population has expanded steadily. With almost all parts of Scotland witnessing this birth boom, one of the highest in past years. If we look at the death scenario in Scotland then the disease which accounts for the most number of deaths is Cancer. Other diseases are coronary heart disease, strokes and heart attacks.
All these figures and facts have highlighted the fact that the birth rate is on the higher side than the death rates in Scotland these days.
