India has been one of the hot tourist deatination in asia with large section of tourist across the globe heading to this cultural diverse country every year. The innumerable features and rich traditions India boats gives the place a unique attraction. From years India has been the global tourist destination attracting tourists from all parts of the world. India has developed a lot and now apart from this contemporary tourism which has gained great reputation in India. The new catch word for India these days is ‘Fertility tourism’, which is bringing in more foreign tourists to this traditional country.
Every year many foreign couples are heading to India to have their babies by surrogate mothers. This flourishing industry in India has given birth to the fertility tourism which has taken a huge shape today. With the growth of these fertility clinics in India many foreign couples with fertility problems take the help of these surrogate mothers to get babies.
It is learnt that many such fertility clinics are there in various parts of India where infertile foreign couples can pay for local women a particular fees in-order to donate eggs and also to carry babies. It is noticed that about 50 couples use surrogate mothers every year in UK, and these couples are ready to travel overseas to get their babies. The figures highlight that one in every six couples suffers from this infertility problems, which makes them to opt for surrogate mothers.
This growing trend is also raising a serious question, whether these surrogate mothers are being exploited, who are mostly poor women. Few experts think that this trend of surrogate mothers is some how exploiting the lower section women. While on the other hand, few consider this as two people helping each other.
The surrogate mothers who agree to donate their eggs do those infertile couples are paid good fees which they could not even earn in three years. This somehow also helps to lift their financial status and improves their standard of living.
Another reason for India becoming the booming place for fertility tourism is the fact that India is far more reasonable place than compared to UK, which is more expensive. Even with the lack of surrogate mothers in abroad these couple have to travel overseas looking for donors. In UK it was noticed that every year many couple are opting for India as the destination looking for surrogate mothers. With such a boom in this fertility tourism in India, it is expected that this trend would grow further in coming years.
