Snow showers await the Hogmanay revellers

Fresh snow showers and biting cold wave conditions are not likely to dampen the spirits of the highly charged up Hogmanay revelers who will be thronging Edinburgh for the world famous street party. Around 80,000 people are expected to participate in the outdoor events and New year programs this year.Hogmanay celebrations at George square, Glasgow would bring in atleast 10,000 revelers.

Princess Street and the nearby areas will be open to only those with tickets. Additional stewards, police personnel , first aiders and doctors have been deployed on duty to handle any emergency. The Hogamany event is expected to be a sell out as the ticket sales have been brisk. In Glasgow, alcohol carry-outs is banned however, special kiosks housing bars have been opened throughout the arena and people have been advised to drink sensibly to avoid any unruly incidents. Free buses will ply from Buchanan Street bus station until 4.30am on New Year’s Day and taxis can be booked in advance.

Though the bad weather would not hamper the celebrations, organizers have asked the people to take some precautions like keeping themselves well hydrated and eating hot meals.
