We have chronicled the end of St Kilda and the sad story of the end of that ancient, cashless economy in our Scotland Guide  (The End of St Kilda). The necessary but somehow tragic tale of how that close-knit and wind-swept community was shipped to the mainland and truly blown to the winds is an iconic tale of change and its cost.
