VisitScotland ties up With Walt Disney For a Biggest Tourism Campaign
VisitScotland is partnering with Walt Disney for a biggest campaign that the country have ever launched. This global marketing push is to promote Scottish tourism around the international release of Disney’s highlands-set animated film, Brave.
The £7m marketing tie-up marks the first time Disney has teamed up with a country’s tourism board, for launching one of its movies. Released in the UK in August, Brave is set in the Scottish highlands (for information on holidays in scotland highlands) and features characters voiced by Billy Connolly and Kelly Macdonald among others. It has been produced by Disney’s animation studio, Pixar, who also created Toy Story, Up and Finding Nemo. Continue reading
Glasgow Film Festival 2012 Kick-Started!
The Glasgow Film Festival 2012 has kicked off with a wide variety of events being held in 16 different locations across the city.
Now in its seventh year, the Film Festival (15 Feb – 26 Feb,2012) compiles a varied programme, pairing the latest efforts from Scots directors with classics from bygone eras. This year’s Film Festival includes a tribute to tap-dancing legend Gene Kelly, and a number of Scottish films, including an innovative screening of ‘Glasgow: Symphony of a City’, which incorporates a “live improvisation of sound and image”. The film festival will give the Glasgow Hotels a huge boost in their business as many participants and guests flock-in to the city. Continue reading
Glasgow- ‘Most Mentioned UK City in Song Titles’!
A recent study reported this good news for Scotland, that Glasgow- one of the famous cities of the country had been mentioned in 119 song titles!
The report was released after a chart produced by PRS for Music – an association of composers, songwriters and music publishers – looked at 30 towns and cities, excluding London. The city of Glasgow and Edinburgh are also the most sought after ones by visitors on Scottish Tours. Continue reading
Scotland’s “RockNess 2012″ to rock with Popular Artists!
This year, Scotland will witness the famous artists playing the rhythm of their music talents. Biffy Clyro, Mumford & Sons and singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran are to appear at this summer’s RockNess music festival.
Others popular ones for the Highlands music event include electronic act Deadmau5 and dance music act Justice. RockNess will be held from 8 to 10 June 2012.
Sheeran is nominated for best male, breakthrough act, best single and best album at next month’s Brit Awards. Biffy Clyro were at RockNess in 2009 and the Scottish band will headline June’s festival at Dores, close to the shores of Loch Ness.
Band members Simon Neil, Ben Johnston and James Johnston were looking forward to perform again at the site near Inverness.
The festival’s organisers expect to make further announcements on other bands and singers to appear.
Glasgow Placed 12th in New York Times List of Most Desirable places to visit
Glasgow, one of the major cities of Scotland has found its place among the other 45 most desirable cities listed by New York Times. And, the city of Glasgow comes in the 12th position beating the South Pole and outer space to be named as the 12th most desirable place to visit.
The paper listed Panama as its No1 destination, while London, Wales and Birmingham also featured. It paid tribute to Glasgow by praising the Transport Museum on the Clyde. Visitors on a tour to the city can opt to stay in the best Glasgow Hotels of choice.
